10.2.2024

The art of Kimmo Kaivanto (1932–2012) and Akseli Gallen-Kallela (1865–1931) will be shown in the Gallen-Kallela Museum's Rinnastuksia (Juxtapositions) exhibition from February 10 to May 26, 2024. In the exhibition in Tarvaspää, the art of Kaivanto and Gallen-Kallela is examined in an essay-like manner: the relationship with nature, thematic transitions from one medium to another and exciting experiments with new forms and materials. The exhibition is organized in collaboration with the Kimmo Kaivanto Foundation. Kimmo Sarje (PhD) is the curator of the exhibition.

Kimmo Kaivanto's art works participate in the Horisontti (Horizon) group exhibition at the Lapua Art Museum. The exhibition is curated by the Kimmo Kaivanto Foundation board member Veikko Halmetoja. Horisontti exhibition is open until May 25, 2024.

The decision on the recipients of the grants 2023 has been finalized. A total of 100 applications were received. The grants were awarded to: Jenni Yppärilä, Timo Partanen, Niklas Ingelius ja Sami Funke. The decision on the recipients of the grants 2022 has been finalized. A total of 78 applications were received. The grants were awarded to: Henri Airo, Jaakko Autio, JP Kaljonen, Liisa Louhela and working group Erika Koivisto & Deria Kurkan. Social questioning and political statements became one of the main themes in Kimmo Kaivanto’s art in the late 1960s. The selection of these socially influential works will be exhibited in Kimmo Pyykkö Art Museum from 17th September 2022 to 8th January 2023. A new monograph will be published also in September 2022 by Kimmo Kaivanto Foundation and Parvs Publishing.


4.5.2022

Kimmo Kaivanto's painting Kun meri kuolee II, 1973, is on display at the Ars22 exhibition in Kiasma. For the first time, the key works from past decades are selected for the Ars exhibition. The iconic artworks provide a historical background for current topics such as ecological and social thinking. The exhibition is open until October 16, 2022.

The decision of awarded grants for fall 2021 has been made. Total amount of received applications is 63. All applicants have been informed of the decision.
